Westwood is best
known as the home of UCLA (University of California of Los Angeles).
The eastern sections of the district are thought of as an entirely
separate neighborhood called Holmby Hills. Westwood was developed
mainly by Harold Janss, who was vice president of Janss Investment
Company. He began to establish a community in this area by advertising
new homes in 1922.
Westwood is known for its beauty and elegance
even though the city is stuck right in the middle of Los Angeles. Not
only has Westwood become a busy and thriving city, but it is home to
the Mountain Meadows Conservancy as well. This non-profit organization
helps to protect Westwood's rural culture by saving mountain habitats
that are home to many endangered species sacred to the area.
